September 11th Remembered

Like most Americans, we stood in shock as we watched the events of September 11th unfold ten years ago. The confusion, panic and horror of that day was made even more real, as we learned that a brave member of an Elk River family was among those who lost their life on that tragic day.

Our office closed early that afternoon, so that our staff could return to their homes, and gather their families close. As we started to leave, our American flag which was normally displayed only on patriotic holidays, was retrieved from the closet and placed high in it's holder by our front door. It gave us a small measure of comfort to see it waving in the breeze on that unforgettable day.

That same flag has flown in front of our office everyday, over the last 10 years. Now faded and torn, this flag has been taken down and placed in a proper display case this weekend, to commemorate its decade long significance. A new flag has been installed in it's place, where it will continue to serve as a daily reminder of our great nation's resilience.

God Bless America - the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
